Curiosio got a small facelift. We have pulled a useful function a bit on top so that it becomes visible and usable. The function is an Export to Google Maps. Every trip plan has a route. You can throw the route to Google Maps for further tuning and adjustments and for turn-by-turn navigation.
Also, we added a Weather function. If your trip plan is within the next 10 days [from today] then you can get the weather forecast for the points where Curiosio suggests staying overnight. This post is an introduction and an informal user manual on how to use those functions for your benefit.
Export to Google Maps
All One-way and Round trip plans have a button [Maps] on the right above the map with the route. A click or tap on the [Maps] opens two options: Google Maps and HERE WeGo. Below is an example of exporting a route from the trip Japan Special, Top Gear Special to Google Maps.
Once the route is in your Google Maps you could push it further to your phone. There was a cool feature “Send to car” but it doesn’t work anymore.
Export to HERE WeGo
As you already noticed it’s not only about Google Maps. A consortium of German automotive companies Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and American chip maker Intel holds a majority stake in HERE Technology — a mapping tech company rooted back to Navteq. We added route export to HERE WeGo as their maps are branded. Here is an example of the Round trip with Ronda.
If you are signed in to HERE WeGo then you will get additional features to tune and adjust and use your route.
Weather Forecast
Weather is hooked to the Booking part of the trip plan. If the dates are within a 10-day range from now then you will see a red “Weather” link in the same row where you used to see the “Find & Book” link. A click or tap on the weather link will navigate you to the Weather Underground weather service.
