We are thankful for the Canadian military help to Ukraine. Free World is helping Ukrainians to stop Rashism. Canada is one of the countries that are helping a lot. As a gratitude to Canadians, we reinstalled our travel AI engine Ingeenee across Canada. The result is a new Curious Canada.

You could jump right away to https://curiosio.com/country/?iso=ca to check it out. However, it’s recommended to continue reading to learn more about Canada, and the making of the Curious Canada.

Canadian Knowledge Graph

We got ~16000 points and ~72000+ places in Canada. Among them are: ~8000 small towns, ~4300 parks, ~2500 nature reserves, ~1600 vista points, ~2000 novelties, ~300 wineries. This is a lot. Canada is huge. Canada is the world’s second-largest country by total area, with the world’s longest coastline.

TheTrueSize of Canada

The density of points and places is lower than in the US. Canada is a sparse country. You can notice growing dark areas up to the North from the “horizontal” urbanization pattern along the American border. At the latitudes of Hudson Bay, it’s all wild and cold and without motorways.

OSM node density for Canada

Canada isn’t all routable. We didn’t include the Arctic Archipelago and some islands because it’s impossible to get there by car or via ferry. Below is an approximate perimeter that is routable, where you can play your road trips.

Perimeter for Canadian Road Trips

It’s possible that some previously routable points were lost because of this geo-fencing. To name a few of them: Fort Simpson and Wrigley. They were present in the old Knowledge Graph for Canada in the old version of Curious Canada, but now they don’t. If you need more points in snowy Canada then tell us.

Canadian Signature Trips

To test the new Canadian Knowledge Graph we applied our usual routine — took several travelogues and guides and threw the points & places mentioned there onto our algorithm. First off, we validate that points and places are present. Then, they are routable. And after that, we allow the algorithm to tell how to drive through them all. In the end, we try setting different trip durations and various trip budgets to test how our flagship AI engine works.

Golden Circle Nova Scotia

“For a small province, Nova Scotia packs one hell of a punch. Dramatic coastal landscapes, historic towns and colourful fishing harbours, six UNESCO sites, sensational food, beautiful places to stay, welcoming people… they even have beaches and, in the summer, perfect weather! Travel in Nova Scotia really does give you pretty much everything.” — Passport & Pixels.

It’s the same award-winning Bella who makes documentaries for Discovery and writes for National Geographic and BBC Travel. We already converted her archaeological filming in Turkey into the interactive Road Trip On The Aegean Coast. We loved her high-quality written and visual story then. This time we got inspired by her Nova Scotia adventure and loved it again.

Cabot Trail Drive

“Are you ready to drive one of the best road trips in the world? The view just above your dashboard will now be a window to North America’s #1 Island. With jaw-dropping scenery along the drives to Cape Breton Island’s most famous locations and communities, your 7 day itinerary will make memories that will last a lifetime.” — Cape Breton Island

Loop Around Vancouver

“Vancouver’s nice and all, but sometimes it’s more fun to escape the city. Whether you’ve only got a weekend or an extended amount of time, we’ve got you covered. Check out the ideas below for some unique ideas for an actually awesome road trip from Vancouver.” — Bored in Vancouver

There were 8 awesome road trips from Vancouver in the article. We reduced the number to Canadian only. And we made a geo soup from those ideas by putting them all together. Then we asked the Curiosio to produce an itinerary. Curiosio produced several interactive plans. Here is one of them to try out. Follow the link to the Awesome Points & Places Around Vancouver to check it out and edit to your requirements to see what’s possible and optimal.

Road Trip from Vancouver for First-Time Visitors

“As residents of Vancouver, we’re often asked about the best things to do in Vancouver. The next most common question is — what is the best road trip from Vancouver for first time visitors? In our opinion, British Columbia is the best place in the world to visit and live. It’s a bold statement. However, if you ask anyone who’s visited British Columbia, you’ll likely hear glowing reviews about its easy access to nature and endless outdoor adventure.” — Traveling Canucks

Follow the link to the interactive trip plan of the Road Trip from Vancouver for First Time Visitors to experiment with it to your liking. You can change the number of travelers, trip duration, trip budget, add points of places, remove points or places, set perimeter of interest, set overnights per point, etc. You can do all this simultaneously. Click the red [Modify] button there.

What’s Next?

The next curious country will be Portugal.

After that, we are going to experiment with anti-overtourism. This vision has been percolating for a while, go check out our Decade of Mimetic Tourism story. If we kick it off after the Curious Portugal it will be a major version release of Curiosio.

Thank you for reading/skimming/scrolling down here. Now it’s good to go to Curious Canada at https://curiosio.com/country/?iso=ca. Stay tuned and always follow your curiosity.
